The Moment Everything Changed
There was a time when I didn’t know how I would make it through the next day. My kids and I faced homelessness, bounced from one job to another trying to find financial stability, and endured personal tragedies that turned our world upside down. Life felt like a never-ending cycle of challenges, and I questioned whether I would ever find a way out.
For years, I had followed the “expected path”—work hard, go to college, and earn a degree. I thought that degree would provide a stable career and a better future for my children. But reality had other plans.
After earning my college degree, I racked up over $50,000 in student loan debt, only to realize that the career I had worked so hard for wasn’t the right fit for me. That realization led me down a path I never expected: financial ruin, homelessness as a single mom, defaulting on my student loans, an eviction on my record, and a destroyed credit score.
It felt like I had hit rock bottom, and I had no idea how to climb out.
Hitting Rock Bottom: The Struggles No One Talks About
When people talk about success, they often skip over the messy parts—the nights spent worrying, the doors slammed in your face, the moments when you feel like giving up. For me, hitting rock bottom meant making impossible choices: Do I buy food or pay the electric bill? Do I put gas in my car or save for rent?
Living in survival mode became my new normal. Job after job, paycheck to paycheck, trying to make ends meet while raising my kids alone. Some nights, I cried myself to sleep, wondering if I had completely failed them. But deep down, I knew I couldn’t stay in that place forever.
The Turning Point: Betting on Myself
There was a moment—a defining moment—when I decided that enough was enough. I couldn’t keep waiting for someone to save me. I couldn’t let my past mistakes and setbacks dictate my future.
I had to bet on myself and take a chance, even when everything felt uncertain.
I didn’t have a roadmap, but I knew I had skills, determination, and a vision. So, I started researching. I immersed myself in entrepreneurship, marketing, and financial recovery. I learned about SEO, content creation, branding, and social media marketing—all skills I could use to build something of my own.
That decision led to the creation of:
NattiHive Marketing – A digital marketing agency dedicated to helping businesses grow through personalized marketing strategies.
Charleston Elite Wellness Concierge – A luxury wellness business offering high-end wellness services and experiences.
How I Started Rebuilding My Life & Business
Starting a business with no money, bad credit, and no financial safety net wasn’t easy. But I refused to let those obstacles stop me. Here’s what I did:
1. Rebuilding My Credit
I knew that if I ever wanted financial stability, I had to repair my credit score. That meant:
Negotiating with creditors to settle debts
Using secured credit cards to rebuild my score
Paying bills on time to establish consistency
Avoiding high-interest loans that could trap me in a cycle of debt
2. Learning Digital Marketing & Building My Business
I couldn’t afford to hire a business coach, so I became my own teacher:
I took free courses on SEO, content marketing, and social media growth.
I studied how to optimize websites for Google and Pinterest.
I learned how to create engaging content that attracts customers.
By the time I was ready to launch NattiHive Marketing, I had the knowledge to help businesses grow—because I had done it for myself.
3. Embracing Failure as a Learning Experience
Not everything worked the first time. I had failed launches, bad investments, and plenty of moments of doubt. But each failure taught me something valuable:
Failure isn’t the end—it’s just another lesson.
Adaptability is the key to success.
You don’t need permission to chase your dreams.
Lessons I Learned from Betting on Myself
If you’re struggling, if you feel like you’re stuck in a hole you’ll never climb out of, know this: You are not alone.
Here’s what I learned along the way:
✔ Your past does not define your future. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. ✔ Investing in yourself is the best investment you’ll ever make. Even if you have nothing, you can always learn and grow. ✔ Surround yourself with the right people. Find mentors, business groups, and online communities that push you forward. ✔ Success isn’t overnight. Progress takes time, but every small step adds up.
What’s Next? My Journey Continues
Building NattiHive Marketing is more than just a business venture—it’s a way to prove that your starting point does not determine your destination.
Right now, my focus is on growing my business, helping other entrepreneurs succeed, and continuing to rebuild my financial future. But I’m also working on future projects that I believe will make an impact.
This is just the beginning.
